To fly legally in Switzerland, you need a paragliding license. The law requires students to complete at least 50 high-altitude flights in 5 different flying areas during their paragliding training, pass the theoretical exam and complete the training with the practical exam. Of course you can paraglide, even if you are afraid of heights! In fact, it is a common misconception that fear of heights is just as noticeable when paragliding as when standing on a tall building or ladder. When flying, there is no direct reference point to the ground beneath your feet, which means that the feeling of „height“ is perceived very differently.
